§ 32-258. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this division, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Awning sign means a sign which is applied or attached to an awning or other rooflike cover, intended for protection from the weather or as a decorative embellishment, projecting from a wall or roof of a structure over a window, walk, door, or the like.

    Hanging sign means a sign that is suspended from the underside of an awning, canopy, or floor overhang. (See Illustration 3 in § 32-367.)

    Projection sign means a sign attached to and projecting out from a building face or wall more than 12 inches, generally at a right angle to the building. (See Illustration 4 in § 32-367.)

    Sidewalk sign means a sign constructed in such a manner as to form an "A" or other tentlike shape, hinged or not hinged at the top and each angular face held at an appropriate distance by a supporting member, or a single or dual post pedestal design may also be used. (See Illustration 5 in § 32-367.)
