§ 36-158. Interments; registration required.
(a)
It shall be unlawful to bury the remains of any deceased person within the city other than in a duly authorized and recognized public burial grounds. For purposes of this section, a public burial ground shall be a recognized public or private cemetery.
(b)
All burials in a city-owned or city-operated cemetery, including the opening and closing of graves, shall be performed only under the supervision of a funeral home licensed by the state and registered with the city. The city shall require for registration a copy of the funeral home's state license and proof of general liability insurance in the amount of at least $1,000,000.00.
(c)
Registration shall be on a calendar year basis with all registrations expiring on December 31 of each year.
