§ 1. USAGE

A.
For the purpose of these regulations, certain numbers, abbreviations, terms, and words shall be used, interpreted and defined as set forth in this [Unified Development Code].
B.
Unless the context clearly indicates to the contrary, words used in the present tense include the future tense and words used in the plural include the singular.
C.
The word "shall" wherever used in this article will be interpreted in its mandatory sense; the word "may" shall be deemed as permissive.
D.
The word "building" includes the word "structure"; the word "lot" also means "plot" or "tract."
E.
The term "used for" includes the meaning "designed for" or "intended for."
