§ 10-632. City council approval required; Downtown Historic Core boundary description.

  • (a)

    No person shall demolish or relocate any building that lies within the Downtown Historic Core which is over 50 years old without first applying to the building official for a permit under this section, and receiving city council approval.

    (b)

    The Downtown Historic Core is defined as all buildings 50 years old or older within the following boundary:

    DESCRIPTION

    All that certain lots, tracts, or parcels of land situated in the Original Town of Rockwall, (Rockwall Old Town #4820), B.F. Boydstun Survey Abstract No. 14, Rockwall, Rockwall County, Texas.

    The following described area encompasses all of Blocks E, F, G, K, J. L, M, N, and the 0.918 acre 'Courthouse on the Square' parcel of the Original Town of Rockwall, and being more particularly described as follows:

    BEGINNING at a point for a corner at the intersection of centerlines of Alamo St. and Washington St.

    THENCE Northerly, along the roadway centerline of Alamo St. for a distance of 761.34 feet to a point (also being the intersection of Interurban St.) for a corner;

    THENCE Easterly, along the roadway centerline of Interurban St. for a distance of 788.67 feet to a point (also being the intersection of Fannin St.) for a corner;

    THENCE Southerly, along the roadway centerline of Fannin St. for a distance of 763.21 feet to a point (also being the intersection of Washington St.) for a corner;

    THENCE Westerly, along the roadway centerline of Washington St. for a distance of 816.21 feet to the Point of Beginning, containing 13.69 acres (596,382.94 square feet) of land, more or less.
